Steam Frame Starts at Over $1,000

Valve has officially opened the registration process for users looking to purchase the Steam Frame. Each person can select only one model during the sign-up window, which closes Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 PM CET. Valve says the list will be randomized after that point, with results sent out via email within 24 hours.

The base model is built around the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, paired with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS storage - with a microSD slot available for expansion. Both eyes get a dedicated 2160 × 2160 LCD panel, and the headset supports refresh rates ranging from 72 Hz up to 144 Hz, though Valve notes that 144 Hz is still considered experimental.

Rounding out the spec sheet: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, inside-out camera tracking, SteamOS 3, and full 6-DOF tracking via the included Steam Frame controllers. Half-Life: Alyx is bundled in as well.

One quirk worth noting - the Steam Frame ships without a dedicated charger. You can use a Steam Deck charger or any USB-C adapter rated at 45W or above, or pick up the official accessory separately for $29.
