if you know how to use it carefully then yes is a good option you can do a lot of things with it like overclocking your cpu and showing saved wifi passwords on your phone and moving apps from your phone to sd and more..... but if you don't know what are you doing like deleting system apps you will surely damage your phone!

Download root master to root canvas 2 (4.1.1) .i too have canvas 2 , it roots but is in chinese language(thoughu can convert it to english later)....

yes rooting your android is not a good option it's a great option becoz your phone us very limited when u buy it. slow limited features :-( but as soon u root it your whole world opens up too u it's faster,stable,all features enabled :-) u find out you can do all the things that u couldn't do 😲 and + battery life extended :-) so to all the of you that have android root your phone believe me it's better than stock :-)

2 Download stock ROM(2.3.6) (Not Custom rom) (Google To find It)
3 Extract Rom files
4 open Odin
5 Select PDA , CSC And (PHONE , Maybe Modem) Files
6 Start Ur Phone Using " VOl Down"+"POWER"+HOME" Button THen VOl Up To Continue
7 Now Ur In Download MOde Then Presss The START button In Odin To Flash FIles

The phone is so poor that it can not run games like temple run or subway surfers. So what I am saying is that the galaxy can run games like temple run after being rooted. I dont know about Dead Trigger 2 but you can run games like n.o.v.a and GT racing motor academy

The reason for overclocking is to be able to run more than what the phone is capable of and yes I can play temple run with the jelly bean rom and there are numerous blogs for galaxy y and people dont release roms which they think wont be suitable for the phone. A rom is not upgrading your android version it is just giving you the look of jellybean with the same android 2.3.
