I've just bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 790 and I want to trick it out with a very low end GPU, with the intention of making it a gaming PC for old games (pre-2010 with the vast majority being pre-2005). The 710 catches my eye because its cheap, low profile (will fit in the case) and has a VGA port (I may connect a CRT monitor eventually)

But I'm a little worried because everything I read about this card says this isn't meant for gaming and isn't designed for it. Does that apply to older games too? Benchmarks are of course worthless to me because they're all benchmarking newer things I'll never run on it. I want to know how this thing would run Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R, maybe DX9 Unreal Engine 3 games... Can I max them out at 60fps? Those are about the most intensive things I'll be attempting with it.
