Micro stuttering issues eh?You got the necessary ram which is 8GB ram..Processor is pretty good could support...Try using 13.8 beta driver(which is a download)it will significantly improve this problem..By the way R9 Postponed..Try that solution

Your PSU is 1050w right?7990 has larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the HD 7870..7870 recomended Watts is 600 while 7990 750 watts...R9 just released on october 11...Stick to 7990 for awhile if you don't got enough budget for the new ones..

You could do that 3 way configurations and up but,Have diminishing returns and generally have lots of issues and heat...Performance will be not well

You need a Freaking Good PSU since the HD 7990 eats power a lot.. I suggest

1. get a second 7970 and just crossfire it
OR
2. Just only the HD 7990 GPU
3.Get the New Two God

Product Model R9 270X R9 280X
Price $199 (2GB) $229(4GB)
Stream Processors 1,280(270X) 2,048(280X)
Engine Clock Up to 1.05 GHz(270X) Up to 1 GHz(280X)
Compute Performance 2.69 TFLOPS(270X) 4.1 TFLOPS (280X)
Memory Configuration 2GB or 4GB GDDR5 / 256-bit(R9 270X) 3 GB GDDR5 / 384-bit (R9 280X)

4.Wait for R7 It's your choice
