Intel HD Graphics always worked like that!! 😜
But even so, Intel HD graphics just aren't up to playing games like this!
Even the high end desktop i7 CPU with the new HD 4000 integrated graphics can barely run this game at 25FPS!
And the desktop and laptop integrated graphics aren't the same! The mobile ones are weaker.
The integrated HD graphics are good for media streaming, it's true that it can run games, but not new ones! It can run older games like Modern Warfare or World at War, but this is more demanding than those!
And lastly when you have a dedicated GPU, the integrated one is disabled!
That is why it's good to have a dedicated GPU, because the integrated is inside the CPU, and the CPU is limited that way, because it needs to do both the GPU's and its work at the same time, making the performance much much lower!
With a dedicated GPU the GPU is doing its job and the CPU its own as well, so you get an immense performance boost!
I don't know if he has a laptop or a desktop...if he's a laptop user all I can say is to try the older games, if not, then invest in a dedicated GPU!

Actually all the Intel laptops that have Sandy bridge and beyond come with integrated graphics, the difference is that they aren't the same! 😜

because of the new 3rd gen ivy bridge cpu come with integrated gpu built in

You need a dedicated GPU!
It doesn't matter how much integrated graphics memory you have!
Dedicated video memory is the one that matters for graphically demanding games like this!

Your GPU and CPU are enough for a decent gameplay, but because you didn't specify the model I don't know what type it is... 😕 if it's a dual core, then you're good to go!
But the only thing that isn't enough is your RAM! Upgrade your RAM to minimum 2GB for am acceptable gameplay!
