Yes, you can change to clock speeds of your GPU with them, but your hardware can't be overclocked, so it's useless to try overclocking!

@dark13
Overclocking is the process of making a computer or component operate faster than the clock frequency specified by the manufacturer by modifying system parameters.

One of the most important techniques is running at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second; hence the name "overclocking", but other parameters, such as CPU multiplier and memory timings, can also be changed and would be considered to be overclocking.

Operating voltages may also be changed (increased), which can increase the speed at which operation remains stable.

Most overclocking techniques increase power consumption, generating more heat, which must be dispersed if the chip is to remain operational. from wikipedia

overclocking is dangerous unless you know what you are doing most people get it done professionally

@hackerDON
Of course!
If you don't know how to do it you can kill your hardware, so stay away from it if you don't know how to do it!
Anyway for that you need to have high end stuff, like unlocked processors and motherboards that support overclocking, BIOS with an overclocking option...
It's true that there are more and more stuff like this, but even so the mainstream user uses regular hardware which is non-overclockable.
But most importantly, as I said earlier you absolutely need to know what are you doing...to know how to mess with the voltages and stuff, because even if you do the tiniest mistake your hardware will die on you, and you wont be able to get a new one through warranty, because doing this voids the warranty, so be careful! 😜

@dark13
unfortunately if you want to play on the laptop you will have to get a new one with ether a amd or nvidia gpu if you what to play games on a laptop

all is not lost as your laptop can be traded in towards a new one if it is in good condition and the battery works and screen is undamaged.

there are a lot of companies that will buy your laptop and give you cash towards a new one or some manufactures will accept it as a trade for a new one even if they did not make it

i can recommend you some good laptops if you want some advice you do not have to spend much to get a laptop that you can play games on. i spent £549 on mine plus it was delivered in 48 hours free of charge

you do not need a gaming laptop to play good games it is a myth that you do

Both are very good brands!
Both have their pros and cons!
In the end it's a matter of the user's likings!

I had both Intel and AMD platforms and I was/still am very happy with the results!

intel always good if it goes together with one ATI or Nvidia GPU.
And AMD always good for health of your wallet

@dark13
It is best not to mess with your laptop unless you have had some training in pc maintenance as i have as Attila-13 said it is better to trade in and get a better laptop btw what make and model is your laptop?

Just so I clarify all this...
It just doesn't worth it to change your laptops internal hardware ... it's too much trouble and you can make permanent damage if you don't know what are you doing!!!
Changing HDD and RAM is a whole new story..that stuff it's easy to do and everybody can do it, but it just isn't the case with CPU's/GPU's!
You need to be very skilful to change them, in cases when you can, because most of them aren't changeable!
Laptops motherboards aren't like desktop ones, that if you have an LGA 1156 socket, then all LGA1156 socket will work! No!!!
There are specific boards that will work only with a specific model of GPU/CPU and vice/versa!

I'll say it again...shortly...it's too much of a fuss and you can easily make permanent damage to your machine if you don't know what are you doing, and let's not say that it's very expensive! It's much easier to get a whole new laptop if you want a CPU/GPU upgrade!

I just ask everyone to not even try to change your GPU/CPU on your laptop...if you want to upgrade, then get a new laptop....trade the old in and pay the rest in cash for the new one!

Thanks and take care! 😉

@daoluong
That is true with some laptops but there are some which you can swap the gpu as it is connected to the motherboard by pci-e port like desktops.

my last laptop and my current laptop have an pci-e port on the motherboard and the gpu is removable the problem is they don't sell laptop gpu's to customers but you can find second hand laptop pci-e gpu's on ebay.

@dark13
the easiest parts you can change are HDD, RAM, dvd writer and keyboard.
You also can change monitor, CPU ( on some laptop ), web cam with a little bit hard.
But you cannot change or add GPU, it's one part of mainboard.

P/S: damn you, Crytek o0o

can i add a dedicated GPU to my laptop?

DomDA83 avatar
@dark13
Intel HD 3000 is not suitable for modern gaming that why you need a dedicated gpu in laptops to play games (see my laptop specs on my page for clarfication)

intel gpu is built in to the cpu i.e integrated you can't play any modern games on it older games you can

Attila my friend i want to ask about someting confuses me
i have a laptop (core i5 with Intel HD graphics 3000) without any other GPU and a total memory 1695 MB
But when I install a game Like (PES 2013) it gives me that ur video memory is 64 MB (unable).
Do you have any solutions or answers for that? 😕

what options do i have for such specs?

Attila-13 avatar
@Dark13
No, not ultra! 😞
All of your specs are great, but the problem is the GTX 650...Don't get me wrong, it's a good low budget card, but compared to the rest of your specs it's very weak! 😞
If you have the ability please consider upgrading it to at least a GTX660 TI or above! 😉
With your monitor there isn't too much options for HD graphics in case it doesn't support 720p... if yes, then you'll be able for lower HD graphics, because 720p doesn't show all the beauty of the HD graphics like 1080p does it..but still 720p brings beautiful graphics despite all of the said above!

But as I said if you have the money, consider upgrading to at least GTX 660TI and a 1080p monitor! 😉
