With those settings in my opinion you can go up to 720p on mid-low to medium graphics settings!
That GPU is a low- to mid range laptop GPU!
It's not the best, but keep in mind that laptop GPU's aren't so powerful as desktops ones, but even so they can give a decent punch sometimes! 😉

The main difference between laptop and desktop GPU's are that the desktop ones have faster clock speeds, bigger bandwidth, more horsepower and better quality, but the big disadvantage is that it consumes a lot of power!

Well...it may be that, because the 64bit OS eats a lot of RAM and CPU so for a good experience with 64bit OS you need 4GB+ of RAM!
And in your case the GPU is a problem too...the Geforce 210 isn't a bad card...but for the games that are appearing these days you need something more powerful!
The 210 just isn't up for it....
It's a DDR2 card with a 64bit interface.... and for the games to work you need a very minimum of a DDR3 and 128bit interface card...

For example the very minimum for a good enough gaming experience between 25-30 FPS (-/+) up to 720p resolution and up to medium settings in some games you'll need or a nVidia GT 220 or an ATI Radeon HD 4670!

Well...your GPU was a pretty good card for its time and it is a fairy good card even now...but because the technology is advancing so fast the older hardware start to get left behind and are replaced with new ones...
So you'll be able to run games with decent performance if you set your graphics and resolution properly...
Keep in mind that you won't be able to get awesome graphics with HD resolutions in newer and upcoming games because we have to face it that your GPU is an aging hardware and its getting old so it can't handle the HD games of today with awesome graphics, but it will be able to handle pretty good the games that appeared back then when the card was released!

To keep it short you'll be able to play new games with it if the developers will still support it and if it's up to it!

even after that game sucks .
can play but late reactions .

You can play the game on any resolution your monitor supports!
I have a 1080p monitor and I can play games on lower resolutions too!
The thing is that you can't exceed your monitors max resolution as long as you don't use multiple monitors!
But I only suggest playing on higher resolutions if you have enough VRAM!

And it isn't true that the game only supports greater resolution than 720p, you can set it even to 480p or 360p!

The game is graphically demanding, you can get another solution than lowering your resolution or playing it on lower graphics.
But if you don't want that, than you'll need a desktop, because laptop graphics aren't so optimized for games.

Nope, Intel graphics aren't optimized for gaming and it would run very choppy.
My cousin has almost the same laptop as you and he tried Hot Pursuit (2010) and even on 360p and lowest settings he was able to run it with only 24FPS max.

My laptop has these:

*3rd gen core i5-3210 2.5GHz (with turbo boost 3.1GHz)
*4gb ddr3 ram
*640gb hdd
*intel hd graphics 4000
*windows 7 64-bit

I'm not saying that your GPU is bad it's just old and not so powerful...

@attila-13 yes i agree there are some games that will not work or work badly but for me 90% to 95% of games work correctly under win 8 (people can look at the windows 8 compatibility center to see if the game is on there yet and see if it will work or not)

Nope, 9400GT is way to slow.
You need 8800GT or higher performance, the 9400GT isn't nearly half that performance level.

I have played the whole NFS series including The Run, and in my opinion, almost all of NFS games after Carbon (Carbon might be included too) in the series could not attain the common glamor of the earlier games... I hope the 2012 remake of Most Wanted won't fade the quality of the first NFSMW.

In addition, it would be great to see the development of NFS Underground 3 by not disordering the atmosphere of U and U2. 😀
